Thanks to everyone who made it to Making Impact with iPad

We held the second in our series of Making Impact with iPad events on 9th February – a day of tutorials, workshops and presentations designed to equip senior leadership teams (SLT) with new ways to use iPad in the classroom.

To everyone who made it down to the Imperial War Museum North, including all the attendees, speakers and fantastic young digital leaders, we wanted to say a huge thank you for making the day so enjoyable! If you missed out, here's a short roundup of what was covered on the day, and some of your feedback. Make sure you've also got our next Making Impact with iPad event in Gateshead on Tuesday 15th March booked in the diary too...

Making Impact with iPad –

The day's agenda

After opening proceedings, it was over to Apple North West Development Executive Craig Smith, who explained Apple’s vision to redefine teaching using technology, while Mike and I focused on lesson ideas, assessment and feedback tools, and generally how to create impact in the classroom with iPad.

We had a special interactive session which saw a group of Year 5/6 show the delegates how you can make impact in the curriculum, touring the museum and creating video and iBooks as they went!

We then heard how leasing, insurance and parental contribution schemes can help you pay for your iPad deployment (with representatives from QPD and Burnetts on hand for advice) and, as part of a new partnership with Jigsaw24, Dyslexia Action Association also spoke about the work they do to support students with dyslexia and dyspraxia using iPad.

And, of course, we had a range of the latest peripheral tools and accessories to support the curriculum available to check out on the day, including interactive touchscreens.

Success stories

It was great to be able to share some of your success stories. First, we got to hear from Paul Ridgway, teacher at Haslingden High School, and an Apple Distinguished Educator himself, on how Haslingden have been reaping the benefits of iPad. We were also very happy to welcome Andy Brady from Nether Alderley Primary School and his year 5 and 6 digital leaders, showcasing what they've been doing with iBooks, as well as the 'iGeniuses' Luke and Ellie from Barrow Hill Primary School.

@WeAreJigsaw24 thanks for inviting us to talk today. Our digital leaders enjoyed the activities as well!
